Foreword

Welcome to the table

On weekdays you really want just one thing: a warm, proper meal on the table without spending hours in the kitchen after a long day. That is why this book is all about the slow cooker. You chop a little, brown things briefly, and then it does the work.

Every recipe serves four: two adults and two children. I keep the flavours mild so everyone can simply eat together. If you like it hotter, add hot sauce at the table. You will find all the ingredients in the Spanish supermarket, and most meals cost between €6 and €12.

Dutch beef stew, Spanish lentejas or a mild curry: pick whatever suits your week, switch on the slow cooker and enjoy the smell drifting through the house. Enjoy your meal!

Love, Bianca

How to read the recipes

€

Price

Guide price for the whole meal for four, based on Spanish supermarket prices.

Spice level

One chilli is mild enough for kids, two is medium: spiced but not hot, three is spicy. Add extra heat at the table.

Veggie

A leaf means vegetarian: no meat or fish, made with vegetable stock.

Prep

The time for chopping and browning before everything goes into the slow cooker.

Slow cooker LOW/HIGH

Every recipe gives a time for LOW and for HIGH. LOW gives the most tender result. Chicken is cooked at a core temperature of 75 °C.

Freezing

Snowflake: can be frozen in portions for up to three months. No snowflake? Then it is best eaten fresh.

Prices are guide prices (2026 price level) for the whole meal. Every slow cooker is different: treat the times as a guideline.
